| Movement #9 Andrew Math recently passed a couple of former world champs (Rapha & Moly) and then faced a large 2.5pt AF gap between him and #8 Vince v/d Fluit, but he's making some progress at making it look like he can cut that gap over the next few weeks. This week Andrew sent in 8 PRs -- half of which were system records (see below) -- that helped his AF quite a bit. He cut 0.9pts to remain 1.6 behind Vince. He did achieve a result in 60Hz, however, where he took the No. 3 place from Hendrik Bunde. Champion Marijn still has a huge lead, but Andrew is stepping on the heels of No 2. Aron and may pass him by next week. No prizes for guessing which other top player made a move. It was #15 Kouider Benarioua, up 2 places, scoring 8 PRs. He passed fellow Frenchman #17 Paul Maes and is now challenging #14 Tristan Eyma. Maybe in a month or so he will share company with Olivier and Raphael. In the meantime, Kouider is going for French records; so far he has 3, which is just as many as Olivier (3) but less than Rapha (5) and JSX (19). #75 Ian Gee moved up one position, but it was a quiet week for his nearest rival #58 Arnaud Guepey, who submitted only one PR. Arnaud recently posted some photos of a French Army meeting on the forum, so check those out. With his first PRs in a while, #166 Andrew Howes moved a little closer to 60Hz top-100 by advancing seven 7 to No. 107. He also moved up 6 places on the overall chart. His 5 new PRs included his second Hero A time, so he might soon score his first Titan time. Overall, he became a Hero D player. Right behind Andrew is #177 Flynn Hoppenbrouwers, armed with 14 PRs for the second half of April and moving up 10 places to end the month. Flynn already has two Titan times, both on PB, which he improved this week. His cuts resulted in a big 0.5 cut in ARR to also become a Hero player. Making a two year comeback was #188 Alexis Moyen, reporting 27 new PRs. He cut 33pts to advance 33 places and into the top-200. Alexis is keeping a tight standard range between Hero C and Expert C and doesn't appear to have a best individual course, but is on the border of reaching Expert A level with his next submission. A no-show from Jordan Jackson allowed #241 Jonathan Doelle pass him and be the first to reach Expert B. The German scored 11 PRs, mostly Expert times with a couple of Adv A. Jonathan already has some Titan times (on Baby Park), so he's got plenty of potential left. He reached Intermediate A level this week. Continuing his comeback, #562 Joshua Mosumky is juggling exams and leisure time but found plenty of excuses to kart and made a 28pt AF cut. No doubt the SSMTs are helping, but he still has a couple of times left that are older than two years. Expect some more from him. A little ways behind, #585 Stefan Glosby sent in 16 PRs, his first in ten months. He became Intermediate B overall, but says learning the DKM canyon jump helped him race his best ever PRs (both Advanced A and rank a couple of hundred places better than his average). New Records Andrew Math grabbed 4 records in 60Hz. First up, 1'37"122 G+1 on Daisy Cruiser. A narrow 0"04 lead on Marijn's time from Feb 2008, and the second 60hz god time. Next up, Andrew's 1'34"588 Mushroom City enjoyed a bigger lead over Marijn, this time of 0"23s. This track hasn't dropped much since 2006, when Olivier Peruch subbed 1'35, but Andrew has now improved the system record from G+6 to G+8. His other 2 records were both narrow wins over Marijn, both on Dino Dino Jungle: 1'42"538 and 33"078. Andrew had raced strong 3laps recently, so it's nice to see a lap in the mix. His 3lap was 0"04 ahead of Marijn's time from a year ago (both players are the only Myth+) and his lap was 0"02 faster (but made the G+1 standard, which Marijn missed out on). A good week for Andrew, raising his 60Hz record count to 6 and reducing Marijn's to 21. Still a big lead for Marijn. But Andrew is trying to show us that the Dutchie is not completely invincible, but only a little bit invincible. The other 60Hz record holders -- Andreas, Jean-Christophe and Aron -- have 2 medals each. New Players Welcome to... Benny Wang, Canada (751st, Beginner B). |
