03/03/2009: "March Madness"

Well there's no actual madness, just the usual movement. So I'll get right to it. smile

Movement
Right at the top, Shaun Tanney makes an almost imperceptible move closer to Alvin. Alvin's AF dropped slightly from 6 to 6.9 whilst Shaun's improved from 12 to 11. The gap is still pretty huge though. Another sign of the dominance waning is signalled by newcomer to the top 10 David McPartland. David picked up some more SRs this week and is now leading the field with 6 records, whilst moving from 12th to 5th overall. #8 Ben Hart and #9 Daniel Anderson put in a very decent effort, both moving up one spot.

#12 - #16 (Smolen, Shoal, Schmidt, Bas and Sebeny) were all quite active and moved up in one giant clump. Any of the 5 could break into the top 10 soon. Leif Leopold passed Sam for #18, Alvin Le broke into the top 20 at #20 from #23, and Kevin Letailleur made a nice move from #27 to #22.

Then it's pretty quiet for a little bit. Paul Tanney played again after a long while absent. His improvements brought him up from #35 to #32. Joshua Leutz made some very healthy gains, taking out 6 people by going from #44 to #38. Andy Lundeen gets his name on the board for the first time at a very impressive #40, whilst rounding out movement in the top 50, Dave Phaneuf improves from #47 to #43.

Best of the rest
Best of the rest this week is Daniel St-Laurent whose improvement this update sees him passing 48 players in total. He now sits at #76. Vincent Zee passes a double digit number of players, moving from #97 to #85. Tom Norton breaks back into the top 100 in style with a 19 place cut to finish #87. Franco Gubser does the same, dispatching 20 players, and finishing at #92.

Honourable mentions to: Jon Coppernoll, Sean Longwill, Nicholas Harvey, Joshua Cook and Andrew Manning who made some decent moves outside the top 100.
